Core market terms
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Prediction market | A market where contracts settle based on a real-world outcome such as an election, sports result, or economic release. |
| Polymarket | The current venue BETTER focuses on. It runs on Polygon and uses a central limit order book. |
| Kalshi | A regulated prediction market platform in the United States. Mentioned in BETTER docs as a planned future integration, not a live one today. |
| Opinion.xyz | A prediction market protocol mentioned as a planned future integration. |
| CLOB | Central Limit Order Book. The market structure where bids and asks sit in an order book until matched. |
| Oracle | The mechanism that decides how a prediction market resolves once the real-world outcome is known. |
| Settlement | The process of turning a resolved market outcome into final balances or payouts. |
| Alpha decay | The idea that a trading edge fades quickly once more participants see the same information. |
| Slippage | The difference between the expected trade price and the actual fill price. |
| Notional value | The dollar value of a trade size. BETTER uses this term when describing Lite Mode copy-trade fees. |
BETTER product terms
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| BETTER | A token-gated access layer for prediction-market trading. Today the live product is the Terminal closed beta. |
| Terminal | BETTER's live closed beta interface for Polymarket signal discovery, signal context and one/two-click copy trading. |
| Copy trade | A one/two-click trade that replicates a supported signal surfaced inside the Terminal. Copy trades do not guarantee equal fills. |
| Closed beta | A live but limited release. BETTER's Terminal is live in closed beta; vaults are not live yet. |
| Vault | A planned BETTER product where user capital is pooled and traded automatically. The first vault is still in progress. |
vBETTER | A planned receipt token for a future BETTER vault. BETTER may use separate receipt tokens for different vaults. |
| Source chain | The chain the user starts funding from. BETTER currently supports Ethereum mainnet and Base mainnet. |
| USDC.e | The Polygon form of USDC that becomes usable for Polymarket trading after BETTER routes a deposit through the funding flow. |
| Sponsored gas | Trade placement gas that is paid by the trading venue rather than directly by the user. BETTER Terminal trades are gas-sponsored by Polymarket. |
Access and account terms
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
$BETTER | The BETTER token used to gate Terminal access today and future vault access later. |
| Access gate | The minimum amount of $BETTER required to use BETTER products. BETTER checks this per wallet and per session. |
| Ratchet gate | BETTER's rule that lowers access thresholds permanently as new fully diluted valuation all-time highs are reached. Once the gate ratchets down, it does not move back up later. |
| FDV | Fully diluted valuation. A token price multiplied by the total token supply. |
| Lite Mode | An optional Terminal mode that halves the standard Terminal access requirement and charges a 2% fee on the nominal value of each filled copy trade. |
| Privy | The login and wallet tooling BETTER uses for session management and access checks. |
| High-water mark | A fee rule that means BETTER only charges a performance fee on new net profit above the highest value your vault balance has already reached. |
Funding and infrastructure terms
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| UDA | Universal Deposit Address. BETTER uses UDA technology powered by Enclave.money so users can fund without manually bridging assets themselves. |
| Enclave.money | The infrastructure provider BETTER uses for UDA-based liquidity abstraction and cross-chain fund routing. |
| Liquidity abstraction | The process of moving user capital from a source chain into a form that can actually be used where liquidity lives, without forcing the user to bridge manually. |
| Embedded wallet | A wallet created or managed inside an application flow instead of only through a browser extension wallet. |
| Polygon mempool | The stream of pending Polygon transactions that can be watched for trading signals before final confirmation. |
| Co-location | Running infrastructure close to a trading venue's own systems to reduce latency. |
Strategy and execution terms
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| HFT | High-frequency trading. Very fast, rules-based trading measured in milliseconds or faster. |
| Deterministic execution | A rule-based execution path where the engine follows fixed logic rather than free-form model output. BETTER uses this for HFT-style flows. |
| BRAID | Bounded Reasoning for Autonomous Inference and Decisions. An OpenServ framework that structures model reasoning into controlled decision steps instead of vague free-form outputs. |
| OpenServ | BETTER's GTM partner and incubator. BETTER uses OpenServ's BRAID framework in its longer-timeframe decision layer. |
| Reasoning DAG | A structured flow of decision steps used to check whether a trade should proceed. |
| Insider Score | BETTER's wallet score for signal quality. It is described as a z-score based on the performance of the top 1,000 Polymarket wallets, then normalized with machine-learning methods. |
| Fractional Kelly sizing | A risk-sizing method that uses only a fraction of the full Kelly bet size to reduce risk. |
| Drawdown (DD) | The amount of loss from a previous peak. BETTER refers to fixed drawdown tolerance as one of its hard risk controls. |
Planned vault and ecosystem terms
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Enzyme / Enzyme Onyx | A widely used audited vault framework BETTER plans to use for future vault accounting and receipt-token infrastructure. |
| Batched withdrawal | A withdrawal model where exits are processed in grouped windows instead of at any moment. BETTER plans to start future vaults this way. |
| Partial withdrawal | Redeeming only part of a position. BETTER does not plan to support this in its initial vault launch. |
| B2B ingestion product | A planned BETTER business line for selling prediction-market data ingestion or telemetry infrastructure. |
| OpenRouter credits | A planned revenue line tied to BETTER's future prediction-market model distribution through OpenRouter. |
$TRUTH-PERP | A longer-term planned product described as a synthetic index for prediction-market exposure. |
| HIP-3 | The Hyperliquid Growth Protocol path referenced in BETTER's longer-term $TRUTH-PERP vision. |
